Well we are back from the 2007 Surf Expo held in Orlando this past week. For those of you that aren’t familiar with the event, Surf Expo has been held since 1976, and it is where manufacturers and retailers in the surf, skate, water sports, and swim industries have come together in a business-first buying and selling environment. Board manufactors often unveil their ’08 products at this event. It was a unique experience with alot of things happening at once. The picture you see above is from the Byerly booth. His boards were amazing and the booth really had a cool feeling to it with an artist painting some Byerly type designs. You know I think if Byerly sticks with it, he may have a future in wakeboarding and wakeskating :)
Our membership meeting this past Saturday at SkiRixen in Deerfield Beach was a success. Thanks to everyone who was able to make it out. I know it was a bad weekend for some with various wake events taking place throughout Florida, but nonetheless we had a good showing and a great time (and an event with no rain for a change). In all we had about twenty or so riders enjoying the park.
The video above shows the good, the bad and the ugly from the day. Enjoy it and let me know what you think (sorry about the lighting in the video-I need a better video camera). Read the rest of this entry »
Dan Kubes on the Double Up, originally uploaded by, SFWAKE
Things have been busy with the SFWA as of late, between planning for the November tournament (Proes and Joes-look for the official announcement next week), planning for the September 8th, 2007 Membership meeting and preparing for Surf Expo in Orlando, I almost forgot the September 07, Member Profile. I did not want to do that so I quickly searched for a member with some free time to fill in the answers to some questions for me. The September 07 Member Profile belongs to Dan Kubes. Dan is a perfect example of what the SFWA is all about. After reading his answers I think you will see that he is passionate about the sport and about our organization. Dan is a very smooth rider and is gifted with a natural ability. I am proud to profile him this month as he is both a SFWA member and a good friend (but not good enough that I would give him a whole month-sorry Dan). So enjoy the Q & A. Without further ado:
