Melanie and Kayla Chojnacki

Each month on this site, the SFWA is going to profile a member. The idea is to present some of the achievements and stories of our members. If we are going to be a unified voice in the wakeboarding community it would be nice to know each other, right? Since this is the first member profile, I thought it was only fitting to “go big” and profile two members; sisters. It is a pleasure to have these ladies in our organization as they are working hard to establish themselves amongst the best riders in the world. Hopefully, as they grow and succeed, the SFWA can be right there cheering them on. So without further ado, I introduce Kayla and Melanie Chojnacki.

Some of you may already know the Chojnacki sisters. Kayla (16) and Melanie (13) have both been riding for four years and are quickly making an impact in the sport. They excel both behind the boat (2003 Sante-Lake Osborne) and at the cable park (Skirixen USA and the OWC). Both travel to and participate in approximately 20 tournaments a year including the Gravel Tour in Orlando and both the Nationals and Worlds of the Gator Tour.

Kayla is sponsored by Shredready helmets. She will be going to Georgia this month to participate in the first stop of the Mastercraft Pro Tour. At the 07 Wake Games she placed 3rd in the Jr. Ladies division. Currently she is ranked 4th in the world on cables in the Jr. Ladies Division. Other career highlights include 5th place at the 2006 CW Worlds in Austria, 2nd place at the 2006 Cable Nationals and 3rd place at the 2005 Pan Am Championships. Kayla also enjoys skateboarding and snowboarding (when possible) in her spare time.

Melanie has had the honor of being a member of the USA Wakeboard Cable Team, a team which finished 3rd overall at the 2006 CW Worlds held in Austria. She is currently ranked 6th in the world on the cable in the girls division and got 7th place in the individual competition of the 2006 CW Worlds. Melanie excels at sliders and her other career highlights include 7th place at the 2007 Wake Games in the girls division and 2nd place in the 2005 Pan Am Championships. Melanie also enjoys skateboarding and softball.

Again, join me in welcoming both Kayla and Melanie to the SFWA. Now if I could just find time to get some lessons from them.
